Wilson Williamson MARLOW married Elizabeth BRYANT around 1822 in Nashville Tennessee. They had four children: Achsa, James Robert, Pleasant M., and Bithel Alexander (my gg grandfather). Elizabeth died in child birth with Bithel. Wilson remarried Martha Jane and they had 10 more children. (five of whom were the notorious Marlow Boys.)

Bithel married a Mary Susan HOWE. They had three children: Lillie, Charles and Bithel. Charles is my great grandfather.

My Marlows lived in Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Missouri.

The book put out by the historical society of Wichita County, that is taken from writings of a woman who lived in Wichita County in the early days, I beleive it was or think it was Louise Kelly has several errors in it pertaining to my family.

My name is John HAMILTON, my family is mentioned is mentioned as to living in the Beaver Creek area of Wichita County(the southwestern corner of Wichita County.

My recollection of the book is that it misspells the name of J.T. HAMILTON aka. Uncle Jim Tom HAMILTON, also it talks about the Methodist church there was named Marvin's Chapel after Marvin HAMILTON. I will have to look at the book again to refreshe my memory, but I do recall several 'misrepresentations' in this book. The woman to whom they aquired this information , alas did not know it all.

The information as to what I speak was related to me by my grandparents who lived there and knew the people mentioned.

I'm not sure if this is the correct location to answer my question. I'm looking for my father's brother, Vela BLANKENSHIP. He was living in Burkburnett and owned a business, laundry, in early part of 1952. He had a son, Woodrow, that lived in Seymour, TX at that time. Vela was born April 1882 in Henderson Co., TN. When I visited with him in 1952 he was living with a second wife and had two or three small children.

I am researching John A. McCONNELL and his wife Delilah. Delilah died in Wichita Falls in 1917 due to burns received when her dress caught on fire while cooking. My grandfather was born James Wallace KEEN Jr. in Burkburnett on Oct. 5,
1923 at 5p.m. to James Wallace KEEN Sr. and Birdie Katherine BURK (her
birth certificate is in the name of Inger Kathryne Burk). James Jr. was
the first born son.
James Sr. was age 32 when my grandfather was born and lived in Abilene,
Texas,. He was a salesman. as far as we know he and Birdie were only
married a short time as she was 19 when my grandfather was born and
lived at home. She lived in Burkburnett. My grandfather was told that
his dad died Oct. 5, 1923 (the day he was born) in a ar accident.

notes have him buried in Clara Cemetery but I looked through the Index to
Clara Cemetery that is on the internet and do not see him. I notice there are
listings of graves in Burkburnett and Electra as well as Clara. I
know we have had relatives in the past in each of these cities. Would
anyone mind looking through these indexes.
Also, could anyone check the Index to Texas Deaths to see what county
they died in and possibly where they are buried.

I have a question regarding the oil boom of 1920. Family history states that my great grandfather Andrew Jackson HANCE died in the spring of 1920 in Burkburnet, TX. He supposedly was injured in a oil field accident and died after "several weeks" in the hospital. I don't know how long "several weeks" were. I do know that his son Earl HANCE and a son-in-law (my grandfather) William W. BELL are enumerated in the 1920 Wichita County census and are listed as working for one of the Oil companies.

The family apparently stayed in Burkburnet for several years. The HANCE family stayed in the oil business and moved into Carter Co. OK, the BELL family returned to Missouri.

Do you have any suggestions for locating proof of Andrew Jackson HANCE'S death? Has anyone enumerated the cemetaries around Burkburnet?

Hello my name is Terry W STEWART and researching any all associated Families of John H. MEYER (MEYERS) & Samuel L. STEWART of Wichita & Clay Cty., TX. Also The Wife of John is Rachel Louise ALLS & Samuel's wife was Mary Jane TUCKER. The STEWART's came out of Murray Cty.,Ga. The ALLS came out of Berry Cty., Missouri. They all ended up in Clay Cty., Charlie, Tx. In about 1900 the MEYER Family had been there around 1870's and the STEWART were on the 1900 Census of Wichita Cty. So where they were between 1880 - 1900 I 'm not for sure but almost all of the STEWART boys were in Wichita in 1900 the Girls of a least two were in Dallas Cty., in 1880 for they were on the Census there and I am unsure where Nancy went she is one I find no record on the rest I am sure about. Of the MEYER's I have almost all of them however the ALLS I am in ???? some went to California oh well maybe I get info some day on them.

I am trying to find information in the Burkburnett cemetery. How can I go about finding this. My grandfather, Robert Leon MITCHELL is buried there in an unmarked grave. I am trying to find any information on his burial. He was buried 11/13/49. Also his mother is buried there, Vadie MITCHELL. She died 3/28/42 it is believed that he is buried next to her. So far we have been unable to locate any information. thank you Bethany M.

I really need your assistance. I am trying to find a death certificate for my GG Grandmother Susan CUSTER LITTLE. She was alive and living with her son Guy LITTLE in 1934 when her husband B. Marshall LITTLE died in Wichita Falls, Texas. 8 November 1934. I think he died in the Poor Farm. She was born in 1856 and would have been 78 years old at that time. I am sure she did not live too much longer. However, I wrote to the State of Texas for a death certificate and they did not have one. Can you help me in anyway or advise me what I should do next ? Thanking you in advance for your time and consideration.

I am looking for information about my birth parents for medical reasons only. I was born 1-14-60 in Wichita Falls. My adopted mom worked at a doctors clinic as a bookkeeper, her name was BANDY. The doctor who delivered me was DR. DEETS (DEATS?) I think. Both of my birth parents were from New York and they were not married. My birth mother (Italian) was sent to Wichita Falls to have me. My birth father (Jewish) was a doctor in New York and was friends with either this Dr. Deets or some other doctor in the clinic.
