I have completely lost this whole family, and this has been my first hope of finding them. I was hoping I could find someone who might look up the obituary for me. Any suggestions? ROW 1854-1930 of Hunt and Denton counties. Her dad, Edw. ROW ran an Indian trading post on the Red River near Dexter. His wife Clarinda Ruth DAVIS of McKinney died, and Ed moved to Pottawatamie Co, OK. When Geo. DELASHAW came to TX from AL his brother and sister came with their spouses: James Thomas DELASHAW and Mary Jane SLATON, and Sally DELASHAW and Wm. H. DAUGHERTY who settled in Whitesboro, died Durant, OK

Stephen RIGGS b. 1814 Va./Il. came to Tx. with the Peters Colony. First appeared in Fannin Co. then Denton Co. Married Rosanna FRENCH 1845, Denton Co. tax list 1847-1849. Attended Methodist camp meeting Denton, 1850. Appears in 1860 census, Denton Co. married to Elizabeth (Ashlock widow) with 8 children. Although listed as Riggs, four children are ASHLOCKs. Last found on 1880 census Wise Co. Does anyone have any information on Stephen or others. I haven't found Stephen and Elizabeth's marriage (she resided in Denton Co. also). Haven't found death of either. I have been searching for parents of Stephen for over 5 years. Any and all info is appreciated. Will share all that I have.

John & Jesse BOATMAN were members of the Masons in Hopkins Co. during the mid-1860's. That is all the info. I have about their short stay in Hopkins Co. before Jesse moved to Denton Co. Daughter, Caroline Boatman Harris PILCHER, married Carolos LUMBARD after her husband, David R. PILCHER, joined the Confederate Army in TX. She is shown living in Grayson Co. in 1870, married, and 1880, living alone. I can find no record of her divorces or 3rd marriage. No info. on David R. Pilcher has been located after his military service. Any info. would be helpful.

I am looking for relatives with the surname of STANSBURY or SOUTH that were from Pilot Point, Texas. The Stansburys are buried in the cemetery at Mt Oak in Pilot Point as are some of the SOUTH family. Sam SOUTH was known as "'Cowboy"; and was very prominent in the area and is buried in the Masonic Cem at Pilot Point. His daughters name was Mrs. Walter WILSON.

Searching for any info regarding S.H. STIMSON, b. 31 Mar 1836. His son was Isaac Milton STIMSON, b. 28, Jan 1861 in Sanger, Denton Co.,TX d. 1 July 1939 in Granite, Greer Co., OK. Isaac was a County Commissioner in Greer Co., OK from 1914 -18. He moved from Sanger, TX to Granite, OK in 1886. He was a farmer, Deputy Sheriff, game ranger, constable and member of the Church of Christ. Isaac married Cora Lee ALEXANDER in 1885. Cora was born 7 Mar 1864 in Parker Co., TX, d. 16 Feb 1946 in Granite, OK. She was the daughter of Grant ALEXANDER. She was buried in Bolivar, TX. Their children were Ola Lee STIMSON, b. 30 August 1893 in TX, d. March 1978 in Oklahoma City, OK, Carl C. STIMSON, Mrs. C.A. WEEKS, Milton Alexander STIMSON, b. 16 Sept 1895 in Bolivar, TX, d. July 1981 in Granite, OK. Cora Lee’s nieces were Mrs. Mae CHASTAIN, Mrs. Ivan ALEXANDER. Great nephews: L. HORTON, Frank ALEXANDER, Ivan ALEXANDER, Clarence CARSON, Robert HOLLEY. Grandchildren were : Miss Bobbie STIMSON, Miss Francis STIMSON. Isaac & Cora also had a daughter whose first name is unknown but who married J.L. CURTSINGER. They had two sons named Roy and Dallas CURTSINGER. Roy resided in Denton Co., TX.

I am looking for any information on Pleny Sadler BLACK who sold land in Denton Co. in 1873 to Joseph A. CARROLL. Pleny S. BLACK was in McLennon Co. TX in 1860 listed as a ferryman on that census. His wife was Harriet. I can't find Pleny S. BLACK on any 1870 census. Does anyone have any information on this man? He was born in York Co. SC on 5 Nov 1802. Does anyone have any follow up information on him? Daughter, Louisa, married Joseph Smith SOULE in Grayson County, Texas 10 Oct. 1879. They moved to Swanton, Lucas County, Ohio in the 1880's. She was buried 27 March 1935 Fremont, Sandusky County, Ohio. They were my great-grandparents.

I am searching for the descendants of Cleveland WHEELER born February 1893 in Denton, Texas, to Hiram and Polly Anna (DAVIS) WHEELER. I believe he had three children, two sons and a daughter. He ran away from home at a very early age and was not heard from for many years. In 1946 or 47 he came back to Texas and Oklahoma to visit his family. My grandfather Dave C. WHEELER was his brother. Cleveland WHEELER lived in Oregon or Washington -- not sure which.

"Tack" and Mary had one son John Louis JAMES, b. 9 Sept. 1879, Ceder Bluff, Cherokee Co., AL. Thomas Jefferson is the son of Thomas Caryl JAMES and Frances F. HOLBROOK. "Tack" is on the 1900 Hunt Co. census listed as hed of the household , b. July 1863, 36 yrs. old, married 12 yrs., wife listed as M.E. JAMES, birth as March 1854, 46 yrs old (place of birth Alabama.) Two children are listed:

Ollie JAMES, female daughter, b. Sept. 1889, 10 yrs. old (place of birth Alabama.)
P. JAMES, female, daughter, b. Sept. 1891, 8 yrs. old, place of birth TX.

"Tack" is also on the 1910 census in Hunt co. with Mary E. listed as his wife and Ollie, listed as his daughter, they are the only ones listed in the household. Would love to have any informaton, the family has been told that "Tack" was married at least 3 other times other than the marriage to Mary "Molly" BOATFIELD.

Query for William J BLACKBURN family who came to Denton co., in the late 1870's from Lamar co. with his wife Martha SMALLMAN and his 4 sons Robert b1865. John B; 1866, Joseph 1868, Daniel 1874. and 2 daughters Laura and Mattie. He purchased a farm near Marshall creek and raised his family near the town of Roanoke, Texas. He died in 1904 and his wife died in 19-15 and they are buried in the Medlin cemetery at the edge of Roanoke. Robert married Virginia OWEN, John married Eula MANIERE, Joseph married Nannie MANIERE, Daniel married Ollie PHILLIPS. Laura married Louis SCHUMAN, and Mattie married Mr. MCCLAIN. Can anyone help me. Am seeking information on Palemon C. BUSH. Lived in Denton County from 1868 to at least 1902. Practiced medicine, was in mercantile business in Elizabeth, TX and farmed near Roanoke as late as 1902. His daughter Anna Bush HARRIS married Miles Morris KING (my great grandparents) in Denton County 1885.

Another daughter & husband Ada Bush & Oscar Dudley ARNOLD also lived in the area.
